Welcome to our world

This is our story... 4 generations of a family of 8 people and 6 dogs living together in mostly harmony and always love. My husband and I are in our 50's and my 85 year old mother has been living with us for many years. She is wheelchair-bound after suffering an aneurysm over 15 years ago. We have three children: a 12 year old son, 26 year old son and a 27 year old daughter. We are blessed with a wonderful son-in-law and an incredible 6 month old grandson. We all live together in a 5 bedroom, 1-1/2 bathroom house. We've been on this adventure for several months and are finding our groove. Getting our balance. Learning our boundaries.

We didn't take this step lightly or without much prayer, thought and discussion. By combining our living expenses for a period of time we can all work towards separate goals. For some it is the down payment on a house. For others home improvement and the realization of some dreams. For others it is the simply joy of companionship.

Along the way we are making many discoveries. There are benefits and hurdles both expected and unexpected - some bigger than anticipated and some smaller. The most surprising discovery has been the negative reactions  from others which has prompted our decision to blog about our experience.

My daughter and I have come to realize that since we do not work outside the home right now (or simply because we are the "moms") that we set the tone ... the temperament so to speak. We are also integral to the smooth running of the home and are working hard to streamline all processes.

So this blog is our journey and our hope is that we give encouragement and support to any families on a similar journey.
